Membership


Orthopaedic Surgeons who are licensed and practicing in the State of New Jersey, and who have completed a residency program, accredited by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery or by the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopaedic Surgery are eligible for Active Membership in the Society.
Associate Membership may be conferred upon distinguished members of the medical profession and basic sciences who are not orthopaedic surgeons but whose activities, interests and contributions are related to orthopaedic surgery. Three members of the Society must propose candidates for Associate Membership. These recommendations and a copy of the candidate’s Curriculum Vitae must be submitted to the Secretary of the Society who will forward them to the Membership Committee. Upon approval of the Membership Committee the candidate may be invited to apply to the Society for Associate Membership. The application shall then be processed in accordance with the procedure for Active Membership. Dues for this category shall be the same as for Active Membership. Associate Members shall enjoy all benefits and privileges of membership but may not vote.
Adjunct Membership is reserved for orthopaedic surgeons not practicing in the State of New Jersey. The procedures for application and approval of membership shall be the same as Active Members, and will share all benefits and privileges with the exception of the right to vote and shall be excused from the payment of dues. 
Orthopaedic Surgeons-in-Training. This category of members shall be open to physicians enrolled in an approved Orthopaedic Residency program or Fellowship program in New Jersey. A reduced fee schedule shall be assessed.  Application for active membership is expected after completion of training.

The NJOS is the specialty society for all Orthopaedic Surgeons in New Jersey.  The organization provides educational and advocacy services to its members in a professional and collegiate atmosphere.  Membership is open to all orthopaedics surgeons practicing in our State
Although membership in the AAOS and certification by the ABOS is encouraged, they are not prerequisites.  We invite your membership and participation so that together we can continue to address issues and to effect change for your benefit and that of our profession.
